About the Role
Reporting to the Organisational Wellbeing Manager, the Psychologist - Wellbeing Programs plays a key role in shaping and delivering preventative and early-intervention psychological health and wellbeing programs that support CFA members across the organisation.
This is a fixed term parental leave cover commencing 27.4.2026 through to 22.2.2027. You'll be part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team providing coaching, guidance, short-term support and education programs that strengthen psychological health and safety. While your primary focus will be supporting staff based at CFA Headquarters in Burwood East, your work will contribute to broader, organisation-wide wellbeing outcomes.
You'll bring technical and subject matter expertise to the design, development and delivery of evidence-informed programs and initiatives, with a strong emphasis on early intervention, prevention and sustainable workforce wellbeing. You will also contribute strongly to the management of identified psychosocial hazards in line with the new Psychological Health Regulations.
This is an excellent fixed term opportunity for a psychologist who is passionate about proactive mental health initiatives and working within a purpose driven emergency services environment.
Psychologists with provisional registration are welcome to apply but please be aware that this is not a counselling role.

About you
The successful candidate will bring the following:
- Formal qualifications in Psychology through the 4+2, 5+1 or Masters pathway.
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered or Provisional Psychologist.
- Understanding the psychological risks associated with emergency services activities.
- Experience in developing and delivering psychological health education and training including the facilitation of workshops and group discussions.
- Experience managing and advising on complex mental health issues arising in the workplace.
- Experience in conducting psychological risk assessments and delivering critical incident response.
- Highly developed communication and relationship skills and experience in effectively managing stakeholder relationships.
- Capacity to independently make effective decisions, problem solve and prioritise work under high pressure conditions
