Accreditation Officer

Salary range $92,600 - $105,064 plus statutory super.

About the role

This role will require you to:

 

  • Support the delivery of operational processes for accreditation, including undertaking the role of an Executive Officer, guiding and advising the accreditation panel in its assessment of ITE programs.
  • Work effectively and collegially within a team-based environment to support the people and develop resources associated with matters concerned with the accreditation functions. This may include working with internal staff from across Branches at VIT and external staff, along with panelists and Accreditation Committee members.
  • Provide advice to colleagues and senior staff on accreditation matters as required.
  • Keep informed about the education sector within and outside Australia, ITE program accreditation and the APST; and participate in projects including those associated with Victorian Education State and / or national reforms.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders such as ITE providers, contractors, government departments and other teacher regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare guideline documents, reports, resources and other correspondence related to the APST, the National Standards and Procedures, and / or Guidelines for the Accreditation of initial teacher education programs in Australia and for related VIT processes.
  • Represent VIT on external committees, forums and facilitate seminars/workshops as required.
  • Undertake other work within and outside the Strategy, Accreditation, Professional Practice and Policy Branch when needed.


About you

As an experienced professional you will have a sound and practical knowledge of higher education, the teaching profession, regulation and Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program accreditation requirements. You will have high level interpersonal and communication skills, good conceptual and analytical abilities, a passion for child safety and sound knowledge of the education sector.

You will have strong written and verbal communication skills combined with a highly organised approach and a proven track record in supporting the delivery of projects. In addition to this, as the successful candidate, you will have: 

Knowledge and skills

  1. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to clearly explain complex concepts, policies and processes to, and obtain information from, stakeholders.
  2. Good conceptual and analytical abilities to identify and segment problems into the appropriate escalation point in a manner consistent with organisational objectives, and to seek ways to improve outcomes.
  3. High level interpersonal and communication skills, and excellent organisation, planning and prioritisation skills.

 Qualities

  1. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships.
  2. Responds positively to changing circumstances and continues to deliver consistent quality working the face of challenging situations.
  3. Demonstration of the Victorian Public Sector Values, behaving in a principled, collegial and respectful manner at all times.

 Specialist expertise

  1. Knowledge of program accreditation, ITE programs, the higher education system and the teaching profession is desirable.
