Lead, Support and Inspire
Daylesford Hospital is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to join our Acute Ward leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a registered nurse with strong clinical skills and a passion for leadership to contribute to the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care within our rural health service.
Working alongside the Nurse Unit Manager, the ANUM plays a key role in supporting day-to-day ward operations, coordinating patient care, mentoring staff, and fostering a positive team culture.
About the Role
As the Associate Nurse Unit Manager, you will:
- Provide clinical leadership and operational support across the Acute Ward.
- Coordinate patient flow and staffing allocation during shifts.
- Support and mentor nursing staff, students, and graduate nurses.
- Promote evidence-based practice and person-centred care.
- Assist with quality improvement initiatives, accreditation activities, and risk management.
- Support workforce planning and rostering processes.
- Act in the Nurse Unit Manager role during periods of leave and absence.
Position Details
- Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time (minimum 0.6EFT)
- Roster: Rotating roster including mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends, and public holidays as required
- Classification: Associate Nurse Unit Manager (as per applicable Enterprise Agreement)
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the leadership roster and be flexible in supporting the operational requirements of a 24-hour Acute Ward service.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Minimum 5 years experience in an acute hospital setting
- Current Advanced Life Support certification
- Demonstrated leadership capability and ability to coordinate shifts effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound clinical assessment and decision-making abilities.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in Nursing, Leadership, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in a Nurse-in-Charge or ANUM position.
- Experience working within a rural or regional health service.
- Knowledge of NSQHS Standards and quality frameworks.
