The Department of Justice and Regulation comprises of eight Regions, through which the compliance, enforcement and regulatory services are provided to the Victorian community. The Hume region delivers a range of services through Justice Service Centres at Wangaratta, Shepparton and Wodonga and at outreach locations in Myrtleford, Benalla, Cobram, Seymour, Mansfield and Corryong. The region also has two prisons, the minimum security Beechworth Correctional Centre and H.M. Prison Dhurringile.
The region delivers a range of Justice Services including custodial services at our prisons, community corrections services, Sheriff’s Operations, Consumer Affairs and front of house enquiries (including Births, Deaths and Marriages applications).
About the role
The Justice Officer Team Leader supervises a team of corporate services staff within the Department of Justice and Regulation (DJR).
In a Justice Service Centre environment, a Justice Officer Team Leader oversees and assists with the provision of effective front and back of house Justice Services including the provision of operational and administrative support to regional program areas and services to clients visiting Justice Service Centres. In the context of a prison, the Justice Officer Team Leader oversees and assists with the provision of effective corporate support services, within the unique operational environment of a correctional facility.
This position may require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.
The role requires a strong focus on ensuring the Justice Officer workforce are suitably skilled and trained to deliver quality services. As our ideal candidate, you will have a high degree of integrity, effective communication skills, an ability to resolve competing demands, problem-solving skills as well as ability to monitor service delivery and compliance.
