Position Details
The Apprenticeship Field Services Unit:
The Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority ('the VRQA') is Victoria's education and training regulator and is established under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (ETR Act).
The Apprenticeship Field Services Unit is responsible for regulating employers of apprentices and trainees and ensuring employers meet their obligations to provide quality training and keep apprentices and trainees safe. This includes deploying Authorised Officers into the field to investigate potential breaches of the ETR Act and educate employeres, apprentices and trainees about their rights and obligations.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Manager, Compliance and Investigations, the Authorised Officer's role is to conduct investigations and ensure apprentices and trainees are safe and receiving the training they need to complete their qualification. The successful applicant will demonstrate integrity and initiative in the performance of their duties, which include:
- planning and conducting investigations, including undertaking workplace visits
- clearly communicating the role of the regulator and the legislative and regulatory requirements to duty holders and stakeholders
- confidently addressing any conflict situations that arise during compliance activities using tact and diplomacy
- using systems and data to identify risks, record compliance activities and investigation progress
- preparing investigation plans, file notes, records of interview and reports
- preparing executive briefings and stakeholder communications
- participating in the implementation of policies and procedures in accordance with the VRQA's regulatory approach
- undertaking accurate and timely records management.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong understanding of investigative processes and methodologies, with experience in regulation high regarded.
A Certificate IV in Government Investigations is desirable.
