Position Details

The Manager, Practitioner Discipline is responsible for leading and managing the business unit accountable for undertaking disciplinary proceedings and determining disciplinary outcomes in relation to plumbing and building practitioners. The Manager will also be expected to undertake and determine disciplinary outcomes in addition to leading the team.

The role facilitates the delivery of core practitioner disciplinary functions under the Building Act 1993 (Act), including evaluation of complex representation submitted by registered building practitioners, judicial proceedings and determination of disciplinary outcomes. The role is also responsible for the resolution of complex operational issues, providing authoritative strategic, regulatory and operative advice to a wide range of stakeholders while implementing effective interventions and solutions

 

To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualifications in law are mandatory, while management, public administration or related disciplines will be highly regarded, as will  post-graduate qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing an occupational discipline function or related enforcement function with a high-level of understanding in investigation techniques, tribunal procedures, administrative decision-making and the principles of natural justice.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on a range of evidence.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing high-level strategic and regulatory advice including the formulation of strategic responses, recommendations and action plans. 
  • Substantial experience in leading and developing a team, implementing business plans, coordinating projects and managing associated budgets.

Salary package (Grade 7) in the range of $161,508 - $180,888 per annum 9.5% plus super, will be negotiated with the successful candidate, depending on skills and experience.
