    Position Details

CFA is an emergency service that places the community at the centre of everything we do. We work to protect lives and property across Victoria, every hour of the day.

Our organisation is made up of employees working alongside more than 51,000 volunteers. We value the different skills, experience and viewpoints that people bring, because they strengthen how we operate and support the services Victorians rely on.

We aim to be a workplace where people feel supported to do meaningful work, develop professionally and contribute to outcomes that matter to the people and places we serve.

    About the Role

As a Quality Assurance Officer, you'll play an important role in ensuring CFA's fleet assets are designed, built and maintained to the quality, safety and compliance standards required to support our volunteers and emergency response.

You'll develop and implement quality assurance requirements, policies and procedures for CFA fleet assets and undertake inspections and audits of vehicle builds, maintenance and other fleet-related assets.

You'll work closely with suppliers to ensure CFA's quality standards are understood and met, assess supplier performance and provide quality input into tender evaluations. You'll also review fleet specifications and recommend improvements, provide technical support for fleet investigations, contribute to working groups developing emergency service vehicles, and keep up to date with relevant industry quality standards.

Through clear reporting, you'll identify issues, risks and opportunities to improve the quality, compliance and performance of CFA's fleet.

You'll bring strong quality assurance experience, sound technical knowledge and the ability to assess whether work meets defined standards. You'll be confident working with suppliers, reviewing technical information, conducting inspections and audits, and turning your findings into practical recommendations.

Experience in fleet, vehicle manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, quality assurance or a related technical environment will be highly regarded.

Please note some regional travel is required predominately to Ballarat. A CFA vehicle is provided for these occasions. Additionally, and infrequently on occasion there may be interstate travel required depending on business requirements.

    About you

    1. Significant demonstrated experience in either medium/heavy fleet engineering industry or fleet maintenance field in a trade and/or quality assurance role.
    2. Demonstrated ability to work with project staff to articulate and resolve quality assurance issues.
    3. Demonstrated ability to prepare written reports.
    4. Working knowledge of current Australian Standards for Quality Assurance.

    6. Excellent decision making skills that demonstrate commercial and business acumen
