Position Details

South West Healthcare (SWH) is inviting applications from highly motivated Registered Nurses currently employed at SWH who are seeking to expand their professional skills and gain experience in specialty areas of interest.

The 2027 Transition to Specialty Program is a 12-month professional development opportunity designed to provide either:

  • 12-month clinical rotation, or
  • Two 6-month rotations (depending on the specialty stream(s) offered).

The program includes structured clinical milestones, professional development activities, and dedicated clinical support from the Nursing & Midwifery Education team. It is an ideal stepping stone for those planning to pursue postgraduate study in their chosen specialty.

Choose your Transition Year Pathway:

Specialty Career Pathway: A 12-month placement within one specialty area, supporting nurses to consolidate their clinical knowledge, skills and is ideal to prepare for future postgraduate study.

Discovery Pathway: Two 6-month rotations across clinical areas, providing broader experience and the opportunity to explore different specialties before choosing a future career direction.
