About the role:
This position presents an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in the largest criminal law practice in Victoria, the Criminal Law Program at Victoria Legal Aid. You will bring a new approach to our workforce management across teams providing a large and complex duty lawyer service and ongoing legal assistance. You will work with administrative service managers and the leadership of the program to implement a recent administrative services review and improve operations practices across the Criminal Law program.

In addition to developing and implementing rosters, leave, and training schedules that support staff and managers to meet their service delivery priorities, the Workforce and Operations Manager will play a key role in ensuring that improvements to workforce management tools, systems and practices meet workload and wellbeing requirements across the broader Criminal Law team.

About you:
As well as your demonstrated aptitude for turning data and reported findings into real change, you possess the highly developed communication and negotiation skills required to positively influence stakeholders and work through the competing priorities and interests of different teams.

Previous experience in a legal practice environment would be beneficial to you in this role, but more important is your experience in developing and implementing workforce management processes, adaptability in times of change and commitment to facilitating and building a positive team culture.

About Victoria Legal Aid:
Our vision is for a fair and just society where rights and responsibilities are upheld. With over 800 staff employed in 14 offices across Victoria, we help people with their legal problems by providing information, advice and education with a focus on the prevention and early resolution of legal problems. We also provide legal representation to those who need it most.

Employee benefits:
We offer attractive employment benefits including salary packaging (making part of your salary tax-free), flexible working arrangements, family friendly policies and opportunities for professional development. Whilst the work is challenging, you will be rewarded with a culture that is focused on achieving quality outcomes for disadvantaged Victorians.
