Position overview

A permanent opportunity for an experienced legal professional to join the Victorian Building Authority as a Senior Lawyer. With exposure to a range of practice areas, you will play a key role in partnering with key internal stakeholders to provide quality, timely and pragmatic legal advice under the supervision of the Managing Legal Counsel – Legislative Functions, Advice and Commercial on various areas of law.

These may include administrative law, commercial law, corporate governance, statutory interpretation, contract law, privacy law, employment law and legislative reform.

Who we are looking for

  • Admission to the legal profession in an Australian jurisdiction (that is, an Australian lawyer) and current Victorian or interstate practising certificate (unrestricted).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide pragmatic, quality and timely legal advice on a range of legal issues to a variety of audiences at different levels in a format that is easily understood.
  • Demonstrated experience advising in one or more of administrative law, commercial law, statutory interpretation and privacy, or the ability to gain the relevant skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and manage stakeholders, and build effective working relationships at all levels.
