Office of the Deputy Secretary, Corporate and Regulatory Services, Victoria Police

The Deputy Secretary, Corporate and Regulatory Services, Victoria Police is looking for an Executive Advisor to join her Office.

The role of Executive Advisor is predominantly twofold:

  • To provide proactive and contemporary advice to the Deputy Secretary and action strategies to support the Deputy Secretary in her vision for the Portfolio,
  • To lead and manage the Office, providing leadership and support to the office staff, ensure workloads are distributed equitably and staff are supported and developed.

The Executive Advisor is a key appointment to the Deputy Secretary.  The Deputy Secretary and Executive Advisor will have a necessary close working relationship, based on trust and respect, as well as a joint understanding on the priorities to be progressed.  The Deputy Secretary relies on the Executive  Advisor to take action, provide guidance and make decisions in the Deputy Secretary's absence.

To be successful in this position you will be able to quickly build productive and authoritative relationships with key staff and stakeholders both within and external to Victoria Police, including the Office of the Chief Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners, Corporate and Regulatory Services executives, Department of Justice and Community Safety, Department of Treasury and Finance and Department of Premier and Cabinet.  Your knowledge of government processes and the political system will help with these relationships. 

You will also be required to critically analyse situations and information and, within risk tolerances, make decisions or provide advice, as required.  You will need to be confident in your knowledge of your Deputy Secretary's priorities and approaches, and confident in your own abilities to speak on behalf of the Deputy Secretary, when required.
