Procurement/Contract Practitioner

The successful applicant will provide procurement support across a number of categories. Facilitating and advising on non-complex procurements and commercial activity, you will support business units and project teams to successfully deliver on sourcing requirements in a timely and professional manner. You may also be involved in supporting more senior team members on more complex procurements. Reporting directly to a Category Manager, you will nonetheless be able to work reasonably independently with clients in order to lead, advise on or review non-complex procurements and ensure they are conducted in accordance with Victoria Police and Victorian Government Purchasing Board (VGPB) policy requirements.

Position Details

You will leverage your procurement experience in sourcing and contract management to ensure Victoria Police achieves best value for money outcomes from its sourcing and commercial activities on the projects you are involved in. With good time management skills, an ability to manage priorities and be action focused to achieve timely outcomes, you will have strong communication skills.

  • One (1) full time, ongoing position available
  • One part time (0.8FTE - 4 days), ongoing position available
  • One part time (0.6FTE - 3 days), ongoing position available

Your duties will include:

  • Working for a Category Manager, you will have accountability for supporting internal client sourcing activity primarily advising on or leading non-complex procurement activity
  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with internal clients, in order to achieve high levels of client support and satisfaction
  • As required, conduct quality reviews on work undertaken by Procurement Practitioner's or peers
  • Contribute to accurate, complete and timely updates to Victoria Police's contract management system
  • Contribute to the Department's overall process improvement and change agenda, and work collaboratively with other Category Managers to support the delivery of large and complex projects

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role
  • Proven experience in successfully working in a category or procurement team in a similar organisational environment
  • A strong demonstrated commitment to ethical behaviour and Victoria Police organisational values
