Business Manager

To provide high quality business support services to the Corporate and Regulatory Services (CRS) portfolio including, but not limited to, budget monitoring and reporting, procurement, annual planning.

The business manager will report to the Executive Advisor to the Deputy Secretary Corporate and Regulatory Services.

You will work closely with the Deputy Secretary and the executives in the Corporate and Regulatory Services portfolio; Public Support Services, Procurement, Strategic Investment, Reporting and Audit, Corporate Finance, Executive Services and Governance and the Enterprise Program Management Office.

Position Details

Your duties will include:

  • Managing the Business Services function for CRS including budget monitoring and reporting, procurement and annual planning.
  • Accountability for the delivery of high quality, cost effective and efficient business services in support of management initiatives.
  • Incorporating best practice systems and practices for the delivery of a range of business support functions.
  • Initiate and manage negotiations with stakeholders both internal and external to gain commitment to projects and delivery meet time-lines.
  • Develop clear, concise reports and provide recommendations, options or solutions on highly complex issues.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Relevant financial skills/ acumen would be preferred.
  • Proven ability to build respectful and effective relationships across the organisation.
  • Proven ability to deliver quality business outcomes through effective negotiation and influence across the CRS disparate teams.
  • Proven experience and expertise in the development, management and delivery of a broad range of business services.
  • Demonstrated ability to continuous improvement, innovation and effective change management processes.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to influence diverse stakeholder groups across all levels.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • The position is located at the Victoria Police Centre, 637 Flinders Street, Docklands.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head.  To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
