Position Details

About the role:

The Operations Response Unit (ORU) provides specialist support to planned and unplanned operations across the state. The Unit has recently advanced its' capability to provide specialist crowd control and public order tactics for events such as demonstrations, sporting events, Public Order events and Emergency Management Response.

As the successful applicant, you will be responsible for the daily supervision of the Logistics team within the Operations Support Division. The ORU Logistics Team Leader will supervise a small team of 3 members along with the day to day management and coordination of functions within the ORU Logistics office. You will be supervising the maintenance of specialist equipment, vehicle fleet, accountable documents and establishing governance processes for equipment audit and accountability.

While this position will be based in the Logistics team, there is also potential for rotation within the Administration team of ORU. The successful applicant will have the ability to further develop their skillset and provide administrative support to operational Police members. The Administration team support all functions to police members including the entry of data from briefs and the updating of information onto multiple police databases.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Providing motivation, mentoring, performance management and coordination of training activities to team members
  • Recommending improvement initiatives applicable to standard operating processes
  • Supervising a small team of Victoria Public Service (VPS) members along with operational members assisting the team whilst on modified duties
  • Providing sound advice and support to the senior management cohort
  • Ensuring timely and efficient processing and completion of tasks within the Logistics Office
  • Ensuring processes and procedures are compliant with relevant legislation
  • Undertaking financial and purchasing transactional activities
  • Monitoring and manipulating databases including asset management software (Hardcat)

As the successful applicant, you will have:

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1), full time ongoing position available, located at the Victoria Police Centre, 637 Flinders Street, Docklands, 3008
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa
  • The incumbent will be required to complete the OHS requirements of the organisation, which may include local level training relating to equipment usage and Hazardous Chemicals
