Position Details

  • VPSG2 range $49,216 - $63,201 p.a. + super + leave loading
  • One (1) full time, ongoing position
  • Working within the Business Services Division, People Development Command located at the Victoria Police Centre, 637 Flinders St, Docklands 3008*

 

About the role:

Plan, prioritise and undertake gardening and associated services, for the maintenance of ornamental gardens and lawns at both the Victoria Police Academy located in Glen Waverly and at Airlie located in South Yarra.

 

Some of your duties will include:

  • Plan, prioritise and undertake gardening and associated services, for the maintenance of ornamental gardens and lawns.
  • Provide gardening services, including using a variety of pesticides, biocides and fertilisers within the established framework, following guidelines and instructions, and solving problems arising with the planting, cultivating, watering and development of gardens and lawn areas.
  • Liaise with colleagues, customers and contractors regarding the provision of gardening services.
  • Proficiently operate tools, equipment and machinery, including tractors, mowers and brush cutters, undertaking or organising the correction of faults or problems.

 

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • An aptitude for horticultural work and experience in the planning, developing and ongoing care of trees, lawns, seedlings and flower beds.
  • A good working knowledge of OHS practices and guidelines with the ability to follow and implement verbal and written instructions within the work area.
  • A flexible and adaptable work approach with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in use and upkeep of gardening equipment and machinery.
  • An understanding of the customer service requirements of the position and a demonstrated record of strong commitment and achievement in meeting customer needs.
  • A proven record of ethical behaviour and a demonstrated commitment to the Victoria Police Code of Ethics and Conduct, Financial Code of Practice, and the Organisational Values.

 

Requirements and relevant information:

*Your usual place of work will be within the Business Services Division, People Development Command, located at the Victoria Police Academy, and on occasion be required to work on an ad hoc basis at Airlie Leadership Centre, South Yarra.  You may however be required to work at any other division within the Department as required.
