Finance Officer

As part of the Shared Services within the Corporate Finance Department, the role includes the provision of advice and direction to clients that focuses on providing support and delivery of purchasing administration services.

The incumbent will also be required to identify research and analyse the effectiveness and efficiency of specific financial issues and initiatives to ensure integrity and accuracy within the scoped finance functions.

Position Details

Your duties will include:

  • Processing purchasing administration functions.
  • Ability to regularly plan and track progress on work tasks and to address priority tasks first.
  • Address any issues, discuss new policies, procedures, requirements or to reinforce-requirements to users.
  • Ability to recognise the formal structure or hierarchy of Victoria Police and its policies and procedures Compliance reporting.
  • An understanding of the customer service requirements of the position and a demonstrated record of strong commitment and achievement in meeting customer needs.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Experience in providing financial management services across a department or large organisation.
  • Ability to recognise the formal structure or hierarchy of Victoria Police and its policies and procedures.
  • The ability to use analytical and conceptual skills to reason through problems.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills for liaising with key stakeholders.
  • The ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to identify processes, tasks and resources required to achieve team, branch and division objectives, and to plan and prioritise work to ensure outcomes are achieved.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policy.
  • Experience and strong knowledge of the government purchasing policy is highly desirable.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Oracle Financial Systems is highly desirable.

The applicant is required to be multi-skilled across all portfolios and requires a depth of understanding pertaining to policy associated with these functions.
