Position Details

  • VPS-2 – Administrative Officer $50,077  - $57,192 plus superannuation and leave loading
  • The usual place of work will be Western Region Headquarters, Level 5 30-38 Little Malop Street, Geelong. However you may also be required to work at other locations within the Business Services Division.

 

About the role:

 

As the successful applicant your duties will consist of the below:

 

  •  Undertake a range of administrative support functions along with the maintenance and management of various records and registers, which includes HR, within a Regional Business Service Centre environment.
  • Perform keyboard activities as required, including word processing, typing and data entry.
  • Attend to telephone enquiries from sworn and unsworn employees, members of the public and other Government agencies.
  • Undertake routine financial, personnel, administrative and/or other functions as required.
  • Process a wide range of routine financial, personnel, purchasing, payroll and administrative transactions and maintain stores and equipment within the Business Service Centre.
  • Provide other appropriate support functions and customer service activities within the Regional Business Service Centre, as directed.
  • Undertake courier and other distribution/transportation functions.
  • Open, record and distribute incoming/outgoing mail.
  • Prepare routine correspondence on a range of administrative matters and attend to follow-up procedures as required. 

 

Skills and Experience

 

As the successful applicant, you will have:

 

  • Well-developed keyboard skills, particularly in relation to word processing and data entry.
  • Ability to maintain systematic and accurate financial, payroll or administrative records in a confidential environment.
  • Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to provide timely and effective customer service to a wide range of internal and external customers.
  • Capacity to prioritise work and operate with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • An understanding of the customer service requirements of the position and a demonstrated record of strong commitment and achievement in meeting customer needs.
  • A proven record of ethical behaviour and a demonstrated commitment to the Victoria Police Code of Ethics and Conduct, Financial Code of Practice, and the Organisational Values.

 

 

Requirements and relevant Information:

 

  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • While this position will have a nominated usual place of work, the position may be required to work at other locations, in accordance with the provisions of the relevant Victorian Public Service Agreement.
  • The position description is indicative of the initial expectation of the role and subject to changes to organisational goals and priorities, activities or focus of the job.
  • The preferred candidate will be required to undergo security checks which will include fingerprint checks.
  • The successful candidate will be employed pursuant to Victoria Police policies and procedures along with the relevant Victorian Public Service Agreement.
  • The successful candidate will be required to complete the appropriate Declarable Association Acknowledgement Form/s.
  • External applicants will be subject to a probation period of three (3) months.
  • This position may require the incumbent to undertake physical activities (such as accessing files from a compactus)
