Team Leader

The Licensing and Regulation Division (LRD) is the regulators of the Firearm, Private Security and Weapons industries. LRD’s regulatory activities are focused on managing risks to public safety and upholding the integrity of the state’s licencing regime.

LRD is looking for a team leader, who will report to the section manager of the unit, to motivate, coach, develop and supervise a small team of individuals in the Firearm Dealer Transactions team.

The Firearm Dealer Transaction team is responsible for the recording and tracking of firearm ownership in and out of Victoria. They also coordinate firearm recovery following death, cancellation or licence expiration of a licence holder.

Position Details

Your duties will include:

  • Supervising, coaching, communicating and motivating team outcomes including the development, monitoring, acknowledgement and support of team standards, benchmarks and service outcomes.
  • Reviewing, assessing and performance feedback for reporting staff.
  • Workload management respective to Dealer Transactions.
  • Assessing, authorising, validating, investigating and/or approving administrative or firearm permits and transactions in accordance with legislative, policy and standard operating procedures.
  • Actioning and resolving error reports and provide assistance with systems and testing.
  • Actively encourage and promote process improvement opportunities.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Ability to lead, coach, mentor and develop others.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated analytical, negotiation and problem solving skills.
  • Sound written and verbal communications skills.

Requirements and relevant information:
