Position Details

About the role:

The Technical Projects Unit is a centralised and specialist work unit in the Support Services Division of Professional Standards that provides covert support services to Professional Standards and the Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Unit for investigations into corruption and/or criminality involving police.

The position requires the availability to work morning and afternoon shifts, 7 days per week, including public holidays, and core duties involve monitoring telecommunication communications intercepted under a warrant. Investigators are the key stakeholders and the position directly reports to a Sergeant of Victoria Police.

Your duties will include:

  • Monitoring intercepted communications
  • Utilising IT systems
  • Typing a summary of the communication into an IT system
  • Identifying communications of interest
  • Regular communication with investigators
  • Working within a small team environment
  • Occasions where you will be required to work unsupervised
  • Shift work which will include weekend and public holidays

About You:

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience: 

  • The ability to work in a small team environment
  • The ability to focus and concentrate over long periods
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in the use of IT systems

Further Information:

  • Two (2) x full-time, ongoing positions available.
  • These positions are located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • These positions require shift work as indicated in the Position Description (as attached to the advertisement).
  • The position is subject to a full high risk probity check
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen. 
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
