Position Details

About the role:

The role will provide high-level training, case consultation, and policy advice to all Sexual Offence and Child Abuse Investigation teams (SOCITs).

Training by this position will focus on understanding sex offender behaviour, the dynamics of sexually abusive relationships, and forensic interviewing of sexual offence suspects.

Case consultations will focus on investigation and interview planning, using techniques appropriate for relationship-based crime.

Policy advice from this role will focus on career-long learning processes, enhanced educational tools, and sexual offence suspect practice improvements.

There is also opportunity to develop and deliver key projects, particularly concerning training evaluation and career-long learning.

The role reports to the Manager, Sexual Offence and Child Abuse Team (SOCAT), Family Violence Command.

Your duties will include:

  • Providing training to SOCIT investigators
  • Providing training to other key stakeholders: Police prosecutions, sex crimes, transit etc.
  • Providing policy advice within SOCAT and Family Violence Command
  • Provide consultation and advice to SOCIT investigators

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Advanced training skills
  • High-level communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of sexual offence dynamics and sexual offender behaviour.
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to liaise with key stakeholders
  • Project management experience
  • Advanced written skills

Requirements and relevant information:

  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification would be highly desirable.
  • One (1) ongoing, part time (.8FTE) position available
  • Position is located at the Victoria Police Centre – 637 Flinders Street, Docklands, 3008
