Position Details

 

  • VPSG-6 range $113,156 - $151,426 p.a. + super + leave loading*
  • One (1) full time, ongoing position available
  • Working within the Strategy, Policy and Coordination Unit, Family Violence Command located at the Victoria Police Centre, 637 Flinders Street, Docklands 3008**


About the role

Family Violence Command is looking for a dynamic and motivated leader to manage its Strategy, Policy and Coordination Unit to lead and coordinate significant policy and project work in this critical theme.  This will include working closely with key internal and external stakeholders.  As Victoria Police provides a specialist response to family violence, a candidate with previous experience and knowledge of this area is preferred.


Some of your duties will include:

  • Provide independent high quality, specialist, strategic and innovative advice to senior management and government on issues relating to family violence
  • Pro-actively build, maintain and manage effective working relationships and facilitate the flow of information across the organisation and with key external stakeholders
  • Provide senior, strategic support on a range of projects within Family Violence Command



As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • A demonstrated record of developing and managing new strategic initiatives, research priorities and continuous improvement opportunities
  • A sound knowledge of the role of police, legislation and policy requirements relating to family violence, sexual offences and child abuse
  • Extremely high developed negotiation, liaison and people skills with specific emphasis on skills in dealing with government and non-government agencies and diverse communities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and coach a team, with the proven ability to identify and respond to emerging business needs



Requirements and relevant information:

  • The incumbent will be required to complete the OHS requirements of the organisation, which may include local level training relating to equipment usage and Hazardous Chemicals


*As of 1 January 2018, the VPSG-6 salary range will be $115,136 - $154,076 p.a. + super + leave loading
** Your usual place of work will be within the Strategy, Policy and Reform Division, Family Violence Command, however you may be required to work at any other division within the Command as required.
