As the successful applicant you will be required to source, research and produce articles for Victoria Police publications Police Life and The Gazette. You will be expected to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment and be able to clearly communicate complex and sensitive material for various audiences. Position Details

Your duties will include:

  • Sourcing and writing articles for internal and external publications.
  • Arranging and attending photo shoots as needed.
  • Using InDesign software to lay out the internal publication.
  • Assisting in the management of an image library.
  • Providing communications advice and liaising with various stakeholders.
  • Proof reading and sub-editing.


As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Proven work history of relevant and creative journalism within a newspaper or large corporate environment.
  • Experience in sub-editing and layout.
  • The ability to tailor communications material for various audiences.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to liaise with people at all levels and ranks.
  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • An appropriate tertiary or trade qualification is highly desirable.


Requirements and relevant information:

  • The position is located at the Victoria Police Centre, Flinders Street, Melbourne, with occasional travel required to conduct interviews and/or attend photo shoots.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
