Position Details

About the role:

As a member of the Centre for Professional Policing, you will be delivering, assessing and maintaining contemporary training to Police, Protective Services Officers and Police Custody Officer Recruits. You will also be delivering professional development education to other Victoria Police Staff. The training included (but is not limited to) delivering sessions on Cultural Community and Diversity Education, Community Engagement and Ethics Education as well as Communication Skills Education. The training will be delivered in both the traditional classroom environment and practical/scenario training.

 

Some of your duties will include:

  • Provide teaching and education services to Victoria Police, Protected Services Officers and Custody Officer Recruits.
  • Research, develop and implement innovative learning practices, and instrumental strategies, including project based action learning and flexible online delivery methods directed to the needs of participants within Victoria Police.
  • Engage in continuing research and professional development in areas of relevant subject matter expertise.
  • Plan and implement learning and assessment programs in accordance with curriculum/national training packages and/or other requirements, including on site and off site delivery and assessment, assessing training needs and developing training plans and programs.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to participants on their performance and progress in their studies.
  • Evaluate teaching delivery, and undertake professional development to maintain currency in vocational and teaching practices, ensuring quality requirements and improvement plans are implemented in a process of continuous improvement.
  • Perform coordination and administration activities for the organising of a course of study, including documentation, reports and record keeping in accordance with policy and procedure.

 

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience or subject matter expertise in (either or all) Cultural Community and Diversity, Communication Skills, Community Engagement or Ethics.
  • Possess a Cert IV in Training and Assessment or complete within 12 months of obtaining a position (fully funded).
  • Highly-developed report writing skills with the ability to deliver training notes and session plans.


Requirements and relevant information:

  • These positions are located within the School of Policing – Foundation Training Division, People Development Command, which is located at the Victoria Police Academy, View Mount Road, Glen Waverly, VIC 3150. Please be aware that you may be required to work at any other division within the command as required.
  • VPSG4 range $84,019 - $95,329 p.a. + super + leave loading.
  • 2 x Full time ongoing 1.0 FTE.
  • 1 x Part time 0.4 FTE  (30.4 hours per fortnight initially with the view to increase this position to a 0.8 FTE position).
