About the role:

The Organisational Policy Unit functions include:

  • Policy governance including developing, administering and implementing the frameworks and processes that support policy functions in Victoria Police.
  • Development of organisational policy instruments including the Victoria Police Manual (VPM), Chief Commissioner's Instructions (CCIs), organisational forms and delegations, authorisations, and appointments.

Your duties will include:

As part of the Senior Policy/Projects Advisor role you will:

  • Provide advice and support within a small team to deliver high quality outputs.
  • Provide advice and support on policy changes across Victoria Police through leading the implementation and review of policies, strategies and initiatives including formulating options to ensure benchmarking and best practice.
  • Provide advice and support on legislative or policy changes across Victoria Police.
  • Contributing to departmental objectives and priorities.
  • Assisting and supporting the preparation of project related reports, briefings and communications to Government stakeholders both internal and external to Victoria Police.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Highly developed strategic, analytical and conceptual skills
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly developed stakeholder consultation and management skills
  • Experience developing policy documents and reports on complex issues
  • Experience in mentoring/training.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • Two (2) x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with organisational policy, all Victoria Police employees are required to be fully vaccinated (including a booster vaccination) against COVID-19 or hold a valid medical exception.
