Position Details

About the role:
The aim of the role is to deliver good practice community engagement throughout Victoria Police through ongoing collaboration between regional and corporate police partners. The role will support the organisation's strategic direction for community engagement by contributing to regional capability improvement and project development and delivery.

The role sits with the Strategic Community Engagement Team within the Priorities Communities Division and will be supervised by the Community Engagement Portfolio Manager.

Your duties will include:

  • Support and coordinate delivery of key projects associated with the implementation of community engagement strategies, action plans and associated frameworks to operationalise and embed core components of the Victorian Government Community Safety Statement and Victoria Police Capability Plan 2016-2025.
  • Support divisional management and collaborate with regional community engagement teams to inform the planning, strategic alignment and delivery of localised responses.
  • Apprise corporate partners of regional community engagement issues and opportunities.
  • Coordinate, develop and deliver resources and initiatives to support improvement of police community engagement capability.  
  • Contribute to and inform the development and implementation of community engagement data collection, including consistent reporting at local and strategic levels, and collating and disseminating good practice.
  • Develop working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Experience in development and delivery of community related projects.
  • Ability to implement discrete elements of projects, in line with strategic direction.
  • Contemporary knowledge of community engagement issues concerning policing, including responses relating to priority (marginalised) communities.
  • Ability to identify relevant stakeholders and develop productive partnerships.
  • Ability to influence and drive cultural change and capability.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills to clearly articulate purpose and vision.
  • Highly developed research and analytical skills used to inform direction.  
  • Ability to prioritise and manage significant workloads under strict timelines.
  • Adaptable to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team.
