Position Details

  • VPSG6 range $113,156 - $151,426p.a. + super + leave loading
  • One (1) full time, ongoing position available
  • Working within the IT & Telecommunications Unit, Procurement Department located at the Victoria Police Centre, 637 Flinders Street Docklands*

About the role:

You will lead and manage the work of the IT & Telecommunications category team within Victoria Police's Procurement Department.  As a direct report to the Director Procurement (CPO), you will leverage your extensive experience in IT & Telecommunications sourcing and contract management to ensure Victoria Police achieves best value for money outcomes in this category.  You will also work collaboratively across categories on more complex projects to ensure seamless project support for internal clients, and bring a strong focus on achieving high levels of internal client satisfaction.   With an ability to think strategically, and be action focused to achieve timely outcomes, you will have advanced communication and negotiation skills.


Some of your duties will include:

  • Lead, support and quality control sourcing activity and the production of key market and approval documentation;
  • Assist internal clients to plan and execute significant and critical sourcing projects that support the delivery of key organisational objectives and commitments;
  • Ensure the ongoing development of staff within the team with a particular focus on ensuring the transfer of industry, category,  sourcing and commercial skills and knowledge;
  • Contribute to the Department's overall process improvement and change agenda, and work collaboratively with other Category Managers to support the delivery of large and complex projects;

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Significant, demonstrable experience in a similar role;
  • Proven experience in successfully managing a category or procurement team in a similar organisational environment;
  • A track record in driving process improvement and enhancing outcomes for internal clients;
  • A strong demonstrated commitment to ethical behaviour and Victoria Police organisational values;

 

Requirements and relevant information:

*Your usual place of work will be within the IT & Telecommunications Unit, Procurement Department, however you may be required to work at any other division within the Department as required.
