Position Details

As the successful applicant, you will report directly to the Officer in Charge (OIC) Centre for Road Policing Investigation (CRPI). You will be required to instruct and assess students in the relevant components at the Foundation Training (FT) levels of both recruit (pre-graduation) and Taking Charge courses (post-graduation).   Instruction into the advanced levels of the Road Policing Investigator's Course (RPIC) and Safe Vehicle Inspection Course (SVIC) sessions are additional core function requirements.  

Primarily, your duties will be within the classroom/academy environs at the Victoria Police Academy with occasional offsite facilitation in both metropolitan and regional Victoria. There is the possibility of occasional overnight travel.   You will be required to become a subject matter expert in road related legislation, deliver a high standard of education in line with the Diploma of Policing and maintain currency or qualify at the Certificate IV Training and Assessment (Cert IV TAE).   This is a 0.5 (FTE), ongoing position with initial duties on Thursdays, Fridays and alternate Wednesdays or as the FT training syllabus requires.

Your duties will include:

  • Reporting to the OIC Centre for Road Policing Investigation (Core):
  • Instruction and assessment to Foundation Training of the Diploma of Policing (Core);
  • Recording and validation of academic results (Core);
  • Legislative subjects on road policing related law enforcement covering offences contained within the:
    • Road Safety General Regulations (Core)
    • Road Safety Traffic Management Regulations (Core);
    • Road Safety Vehicles Regulations (Core);
    • Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations (Core);
    • Road Safety Road Rules (Core);
    • Road Safety Act (Core);
    • Crimes Act (Core).
  • Developing specialist knowledge to provide subject matter expertise to operational police;
  • Other duties as directed by the OIC Centre for Road Policing Investigation.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • The ability to work in a safe, inclusive and respectful team environment;
  • The ability to contribute to quality education and assessment within a Registered Training Organisation;
  • Knowledge of the diversity of educational skills including but not limited to problem based learning;
  • Experience in road policing law enforcement.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • This position is 0.5FTE, ongoing, consisting of 38 hrs/fortnight with Flexitime;
  • Possess Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE) or qualify within 12 months;
  • The majority of the work at the Centre for Road Policing Investigation is based at the Victoria Police Academy, Glen Waverley with some occasional travel required to facilitate training to regional policing services within Victoria. (Regional travel will necessitate overnight stay);
  • VPSG4 salary range $84,019 - $95,329 p.a + super + leave loading. Salary is pro-rata for part time positions.
