Position Details

  • VPSG-3 range $65,713 - $79,790 p.a. + super + leave loading
  • One (1) Full time, ongoing position available
  • Working within the Logistical Support Division, Operational Infrastructure Department at 55 Raglan Street, Preston*

About the role:

The Team Leader role is a highly challenging role and we are seeking applicants who can demonstrate a varied skill set with an ability to work in a dynamic environment that is highly driven by legislation compliance. As a Team Leader, you will provide administrative oversight for compliance with relevant legislation relating to the Vehicle Impoundment System (VIS) for motor vehicles impounded or immobilised pursuant to Part 6A of the Road Safety Act 1986.

The ideal suitable applicant(s) would have a demonstrated experience working within a diverse workforce, very good office management skills and ability to lead by example. They will need to be highly motivated, displaying workplace resilience and has strong interpersonal and conflict management skills. 

Some of your duties will include:

  • Maintain a work group and the associated administrative functions including providing motivation, mentoring, performance management and coordination of training activities to team members, as appropriate
  • Identify opportunities to develop the business through continuous improvement methodologies
  • Develop as part of a leadership group, and champion the values and changes needed in a highly diverse environment
  • Assign and monitor workloads to staff to ensure delivery of services
  • Conduct audits for various aspects of the unit and provide input towards resolution of any identified issues which could have an impact on the Vehicle Impoundment Program or running of the unit
  • Provide sound advice, support and advocate to senior management and staff on a range of issues

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Solid knowledge and experience in dealing with conflict management
  • Experience in the management of a diverse skilled team
  • Proficient in PC applications
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Excellent time management ability; and
  • Very good office management skills and approach

Requirements and relevant information:

  • The incumbent may be required to work rostered hours, shift work and some public holidays and weekends. Shift allowances will be paid in accordance with the relevant Victorian Public Sector Agreement.

*Your usual place of work will be within the Logistical Support Division, Operational Infrastructure Department; however you may be required to work at any other division within the Logistical Support Division as required.
