Position Details

  • VPSG6 range $115,136 - $154,076 p.a. + super + leave loading pro rata
  • One (1) full time, ongoing position available  
  • Working within the Policy & Legislation Division, located at the Victoria Police Centre, 637 Flinders Street, Docklands*


About the role:

The Legislation and Justice Policy Team has central responsibility for managing law reform processes on behalf of Victoria Police to ensure that a consistent and considered organisational position is presented on legislative changes.

Functions of the Legislation and Justice Policy Team include:

  • Managing requests for legislative change from within Victoria Police;
  • Managing Victoria Police's legislative briefing processes;
  • Preparing responses to papers prepared by external agencies and bodies proposing legislative or policy change;
  • Co-ordinating organisational responses to Cabinet submissions, and
  • Liaising with subject matter experts and the owners of policy portfolios within Victoria to achieve high quality legislative and policy outcomes.

 As the successful applicant, you will be responsible for providing policy leadership on legislative matters and managing the work of the team. 

Skills and experience:

As the successful applicant, you will have experience in:

  • Managing a policy team in a dynamic, high pressure environment;
  • Leading development of advice on complex policy and/or legislative reform;
  • Managing stakeholder engagement in the context of policy and/or legislative reform.

Requirements and relevant information:

  •  A relevant tertiary qualification would be an advantage.

*Your usual place of work will be within the Policy & Legislation Division, Corporate Strategy and Operational Improvement Department, however you may be required to work at any other division within the Corporate strategy and Operational Improvement Department as required.
