Senior Project Officer

The Strategic Investment Management (SIM) team is the central coordination point for all Victoria Police investment priorities. The team maintains relationships with Victoria Police portfolio areas, Executive Command and Government Departments, to ensure that the organisation is appropriately resourced to achieve its strategic objectives.The SIM team manages the annual process of developing and preparing Victoria Police funding proposals in the lead up to the State Budget. The Senior Project Officer will take responsibility for managing research and analysis of initiatives, business issues, and practices and will make recommendations aligned with organisational strategy and planning processes. In collaboration with key stakeholders, this role will also contribute to the development of policy, strategic business plans and service delivery options that support organisational objectives.

Position Details

Your duties will include:

  • Coordinating the development of policy and investment proposals that support organisational objectives and reform
  • Supporting the process of planning new initiatives and organisational change management
  • Analysing and assessing the operational implications of identified initiatives – including developing options and costings
  • Preparing briefings and submissions for a range of stakeholders, including senior management, Executive Command, Government Departments and the Minister for Police
  • Delivery of quality business outcomes which are consistent with the strategic direction of the organisation and its investment requirements.


As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Highly developed research and analytical skills with proven experience in successfully providing solutions for a range of complex issues
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated capability in the preparation of comprehensive reports, plans and proposals
  • Ability to work in collaboration with stakeholders to develop and model business requirements using best practice frameworks and methodologies
  • Knowledge of relevant governing legislation, regulations, reporting directives and proven ability to provide authoritative advice in relation to these
  • Proven ability to monitor stakeholder satisfaction, and constructively manage issues to ensure positive outcomes for the stakeholder and the organisation
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (desirable).

Requirements and relevant information:

  • Your usual place of work will be within the Strategic Investment Management Division, Strategic Investment, Reporting and Audit Department; however you may be required to work at any other division within the Division/Command as required.
