  • Working within the Custody Management Division (Custodial Health Service), State Emergencies and Support Command located at the Melbourne Custody Centre, 520 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.*


About the role:

The Custodial Health Service is a division within the State Emergencies & Support Command, providing health care to all people held in police custody; 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Our services are spread across The Melbourne Custody Centre, Metropolitan and Regional Police Stations and provides over 25,000 episodes of patient care per year.

As the Administration Manager, you are integral in the safe and efficient functioning of the Custodial Health Service. The position reports directly to the Chief Custodial Health Officer and you will form part of the Business Management Team. While having no direct reports, it is incumbent on the position holder to form and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships, enabling the smooth (clinical) functioning of the unit.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Financial duties, including invoicing, budget tracking, planning and reporting;
  • Managing contracts (medical and pharmaceutical);
  • Providing business advice and support to the Chief Custodial Health Officer;
  • Providing professional office support functions;
  • Preparing correspondence, briefing papers, reports and minute taking;
  • Business Continuity Planning (divisional);
  • Managing Custodial Health's police vehicle fleet;

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Ability to co-ordinate projects, undertake multiple tasks, prioritise activities in a dynamic environment;
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and general computing skills;
  • Experience working with Oracle (discovery reporting) would be desirable;
  • Demonstrated experience in providing a range of high quality office support functions within a large, complex, sensitive and confidential environment.
  • A Health and Safety focal point.


Requirements and relevant information:

The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head.  To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.

*Your usual place of work will be within the Custody Management Division, State Emergencies and Support Command; however you may be required to work at any other division within the State Emergencies and Support Command as required.
