Position Details

  • VPSG3 range $65,713 - $79,790 p.a. + super + leave loading
  • One (1) full time, fixed term (until 31/12/18) position available
  • Working within the Road Policing Enforcement  Division, Road Policing Command located at the Victoria Police Centre, 637 Flinders St Docklands*

About the role:

Technology Enforcement Support Unit provides static Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) services to operational police members.

The purpose of the ANPR system is to safely and quickly identify motorists committing specific road safety breaches by utilising custom built cameras and software that identify registration number plates and checks these plates against relevant databases.

The ANPR system detects; Stolen vehicles, stolen registration plates, vehicle whereabouts, unauthorised drivers, drivers with an interlock condition, and unregistered vehicles.

 

Some of your duties will include:

  • Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, operate road policing technologies and provide support to Victoria Police members participating in police operations.
  • Liaise with Victoria Police operational units to coordinate and facilitate static Road Safety Operations.
  • Release confidential and sensitive information as requested by stakeholders in accordance with strict legislation and policy including providing sworn members with authoritative advice on the release of criminal history information.
  • Duties involve entering and exiting police vehicles, driving and set up of road safety equipment at field locations where police operations are to be conducted. Placement and retrieval of equipment is a necessary component of work.

 

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment.
  • Well-developed communication skills, with a focus on stakeholder engagement and client satisfaction.
  • Ability to provide guidance and assistance, and work effectively autonomously


Requirements and relevant information:

  • Possess a current Victorian Driver License and hold or qualify for a White Class Driver Authority within three (3) months.
  • Position will require travel within Victoria.
  • The incumbent will be required to work Rostered Hours, Shift work (24/7), some Public Holidays and Weekends. Shift allowances will be paid in accordance with the relevant Victorian Public Service Agreement.

 

*Your usual place of work will be within the Road Policing Enforcement Division, Road Policing Command, however you may be required to work at any other division within the Command as required.
