Position Details

About the role:

The successful applicant will be an energetic and adaptable leader with the ability to work effectively within a small, dynamic team environment. Based primarily at Pakenham Police Station, the role is responsible for leading a team of approximately six staff supporting frontline policing operations across the Cardinia Police Service Area, with staff located across both Pakenham Police Station and Emerald Police Station.

Reporting to the Local Area Commander (Inspector), the position works closely with three Senior Sergeants to ensure tasks are delivered effectively, service delivery standards are maintained, and operational priorities are supported across the service area. The role also requires regular engagement with a broad range of stakeholders, including court services, prosecutions, regional headquarters, neighbouring stations, divisions and external agencies, within a large and fast-paced policing environment. 

As part of the role, the selected applicant may be required to perform some of their duties in a secure or restricted environment.

Your duties may include:

You will be working closely across both administration and property portfolios, whilst overseeing and undertaking a broad range of operational and administrative responsibilities.

This includes managing competing priorities whilst also:

  • Ensuring the movement and processing of documents within legislative and organisational timeframes,
  • Management of position-based email accounts.
  • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders, and
  • Supporting the ongoing supervision and coordination of staff.

The role also plays a key part in ensuring service delivery requirements are maintained across the service area, while utilising a range of Victoria Police computer systems, databases and programs to support operational outcomes in a fast-paced environment. 

About You:

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience: 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, support and manage a small team within a collaborative and inclusive working environment.
  • Ability to work closely with senior management and stakeholders to support service delivery outcomes across the service area.
  • Strength in your interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise and respectful direction and guidance to staff.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills will be highly valued, together with the ability to build positive working relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Applicants who are adaptable, resilient and able to work within a fast-paced and evolving operational environment will be well suited to the role.
  • Experience working across a range of administrative systems, managing competing priorities and contributing positively to team outcomes would also be beneficial. 

Further Information:

  • One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Pakenham Police Station, 780 Princes Hwy, Pakenham, VIC 3810.
  • However, the successful applicant may be required to work at any location within Southern Metro Region, Division Three.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
