About the role:

Taskforce SANO was established to investigate historic and new allegations that have emanated from the Victorian Parliamentary Inquiry into child abuse involving Religious and Non-Government organisations.  The taskforce also coordinates investigations that emerged from the Australian Government Royal Commission into Institutional responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

 

The Sexual Crimes Squad, which has line control over Taskforce SANO, has a section dedicated to Cold Case investigations that have been reactivated from forensic exhibits frozen in storage since the 1980s and early 1990s.  Cold Case receives these investigations when DNA profiles are obtained from exhibits that are taken from the freezer and tested.  DNA profiles could match to a named suspect, to an unknown person or simply be linked to another criminal investigation anywhere in Australia.

 

While initial duties are to commence at Taskforce Sano for this role, it is projected that Taskforce Sano will become a part of Sexual Crimes Squad Cold Case in the future.

 

Your duties will include:

  • The collection, evaluation, collation, analysis and controlled dissemination of information and intelligence in support of Crime Command objectives;
  • Providing high quality recommendations in respect to information and data analysis;
  • To effectively manage, maintain and deliver information and intelligence;
  • The development and maintenance of strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders;
  • Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of developments and initiatives within the intelligence field and ongoing skill development in the use of Victoria Police Law Enforcement and Intelligence applications. .

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Analytical skill and abilities;
  • An understanding of the Australia Government Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse;
  • High level written and communications skills;
  • Highly refined interpersonal skills and high standards of customer service;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • Initial duties at Taskforce SANO;
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head.  To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen..
