Position Details

  • VPSG5 range $93,867 - $113,572 p.a. + super + leave loading.
  • One (1) full time, fixed term (up until 03/04/2019) position available.
  • Working within the Media Branch Division, Media and Corporate Communications Department located at the Victoria Police Centre, 637 Flinders Street, Docklands.*

About the role:

The Communications Manager (Proactive Media) will lead a team tasked with developing and implementing media and communications strategies that support Victoria Police's role in serving the community and promoting a safe, secure and orderly society.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Providing expert advice and guidance to the Chief Commissioner and members of Victoria Police Command on media and communications issues and plans.
  • Leading and developing media and communication strategies that actively promote and drive timely communication.
  • Building strong networks with key internal and external stakeholders, including members of the media.
  • Researching, developing and overseeing the preparation of media releases, strategies, briefing notes, and other communications materials as required.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • A demonstrated record of achievement  at management level in a communications, public relations or journalism role.
  • A demonstrated ability to deliver successful communication strategies and manage stakeholder issues.
  • A strong understanding of the media environment.
  • Ability to build collaborative partnerships, anticipate and address emerging  issues and negotiate with senior management in order to achieve long term strategic organisation goals.
  • Highly developed research and writing skills and demonstrated ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • The position may require travel instrastate and interstate.
  • The successful candidate must posses a current Victorian Driver Licence and hold or qualify for a White Class Driver Authority within three (3) months.

*Your usual place of work will be within the Media Branch Division, Media and Corporate Communications Department, however you may be required to work at any other division within the Media and Corporate Communications Department as required.
