About the role:
The ICT Product Specialist is a senior technology leadership role responsible for the strategic management, continuous improvement, governance, and operational performance of critical ICT products and services within Victoria Police. The position provides expert technical advice, oversees service delivery outcomes, manages risks and escalated issues, and ensures products and platforms are reliable, secure, effective, and aligned with organisational and business objectives.
The role is accountable for developing and enhancing ICT tools, processes, and service capabilities while driving product innovation and continuous improvement. It requires strong stakeholder engagement skills to influence outcomes, provide specialist recommendations, and collaborate across technical and business areas. The ICT Product Specialist also manages outsourced service providers, ensuring contractual obligations, service levels, and support requirements are achieved.

Your duties will include:
Reporting to the Product Manager, Data and Analytics, your duties will include:
- Providing specialist, authoritative advice to support the Product Manager in the development and execution of the approved digital strategy for the product group and domain.
- Managing, monitoring, and evaluating key D&A applications to ensure they deliver business needs.
- Ensuring that D&A applications, products and services deliver quality outcomes and high customer experience within the agreed service management and User Experience frameworks.
- Enabling/realising a product roadmap and ensure that products are managed effectively delivering to the agreed service requirements.
- Providing specialist, authoritative advice to support the development and execution of the approved IT operational strategy, while collaborating with relevant teams to ensure alignment and effective delivery
About You:
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
A blend of data engineering, cloud infrastructure, and data science expertise. Including but not limited to;
- SQL: Proficiency in writing complex queries, optimizing joins.
- Hands-on experience with Azure.
- Unity Catalog: Skill in configuring governance, data lineage, and fine-grained access control across workspaces.
- CI/CD & Orchestration: Experience setting up deployment pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps, and orchestrating workflows via Databricks Workflows.
- Databricks SQL: Skill in building operational dashboards, connecting BI tools (like Power BI or Tableau), and configuring SQL warehouses.
- SAS: Base SAS programming and SAS Enterprise Guide.
Further Information:
- One (1) x full-time, fixed term (12 months) position available.
- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
