Position Details

About the role:
Since 1 July 2014, Victoria Police can issue a charge for breach of parole against offenders in addition to notifying the Adult Parole Board of the breach. Victoria Police investigates all offences of breach of parole and proceeds to prosecution where appropriate. 

The Parole Prosecution Coordinator (PPC) is a position implemented to provide assistance to operational members in the investigation and prosecution of breach of parole offences.

The PPC sits within and reports to the Officer in Charge of the Prosecutions Division, Research and Training Unit. Key stakeholders include the Department of Corrections, Victoria Police operations and Department of Justice and Community Safety.

The PPC role is a full-time position and will enhance the investigation and prosecution of breaches of parole by providing timely advice, referrals and training to key stakeholders.

Your duties will include:

  • Receiving and analysing the legal issues in referrals from Corrections Victoria.
  • Making written recommendations based on the legal analysis performed.
  • Acting as liaison between Corrections Victoria and Victoria Police.
  • Preparing and delivering training related to the Parole System in Victoria.
  • Managing key stakeholder expectations.


As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Strong written communication skills, appropriate to high-level stakeholder engagement.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent is highly desirable.


Requirements and relevant information:

  • The position is located at 456 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.
  • As a member of the Legal Services Department you will be located, on selection, at a specific office within a Division for a particular advertised opportunity.  However given occasional legal service demand issues you may be required, at times, to undertake varied work within the Department.  This supports the Departments commitment to a flexible and deployable legal workforce and professional development opportunities in a range of legal domains.
