Position Details

  • Working within the Specialist Support Division, Crime Command located at the Crime Command Intelligence Unit


About the role:

As the successful applicant, you will be working as part of a team of Senior Strategic Analysts and Analysts within the Crime Command Intelligence Unit.


Some of your duties will include:

  • Liaise with internal and external potential sources of information in order to obtain assistance in the provision of timely and accurate intelligence
  • Provide guidance and assistance to analysts completing their first strategic assessment
  • Identify, research and analyse patterns and trends and provide advice on target selection and offending activity to supervisors and investigators
  • Compile regular management reports, develop and maintain computer based intelligence applications and holdings as well as manual information systems to assist the intelligence process.
  • Design, implement, document and maintain systems for the reception, recording, access, dissemination and culling of all information.
  • Identify, assess and report on more complex specific targets or target areas, or problems.
  • Provide high quality recommendations in respect of the analysis of intelligence and statistical data, identification and evaluation of emerging patterns and trends in crime and road policing and public order
  • Plan, research and develop annual strategic assessments and contribute to effective control strategies resulting from assessments.
  • Manage the collection, evaluation, collation, analysis and controlled dissemination of information in respect of complex investigations/ situations.

Skills and experience:

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills including the ability to liaise with a diverse range of internal and external personnel and stakeholders
  • Proven ability to plan and organise work and produce high quality results
  • Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills and the proven use of initiative in solving problems
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of research and analysis techniques, information and intelligence management processes and needs in intelligence analysis and strategic planning
  • Demonstrated ability to review statistical/ financial information and identify trends, patterns and issues and provide expert advice and recommendations relating to complex technical issues
  • Proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction, and constructively manage stakeholder issues

Requirements and relevant information:

The successful candidate must be prepared to undergo and successfully obtain and maintain a National security Clearance to the level determined by the Department Head.  To obtain this clearance applicants must be an Australian Citizen.

The successful candidate will be required to complete the OHS requirements of the organisation, which may include local level training relating to equipment usage and Hazardous chemicals.

*Your usual place of work will be within the Specialist Support Division, Crime Command, however you may be required to work at any other division within the Crime Command as required.
