About the role

The Police Psychology Unit is a dynamic multi-disciplinary team of professionals whose role is to support, enhance and develop the psychological wellbeing of Victoria Police employees. The team works to ensure that Victoria Police officers are well equipped to manage the varied psychological demands of their roles, and requires Unit members to have a diverse skill set and a high degree of initiative.

We are looking for an education professional to join our team and provide their expertise and input to the variety of initiatives and programs to target issues of psychological health and wellbeing.

Victoria Police recently conducted a Mental Health Review and is currently focussed on implementation of the resulting Mental Health Strategy and Wellbeing Action Plan 2017-2020. This ongoing role will involve participation in the projects from the Action Plan that require an education focus.

As the successful applicant, some of your duties will include:

  • Delivering training to employees in the area of mental health and wellbeing
  • Working within a team to provide advice regarding education and training methods and delivery across a range of mental health, wellbeing and safety products
  • Develop, maintain and evaluate education and training resources
  • Ensure customer service and innovative products and interventions reflect evidence based best practice in education and training
  • Manage and support internal and external stakeholder relationships ensuring positive outcomes
  • Provide consultancy and support to managers and teams across Victoria Police


Skills and experience

  • Experience and knowledge in the design and delivery of education products that are innovative and cater to different learning needs and organisational diversity
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills and the ability to utilise these skills to influence a diverse organisational audience
  • Well-developed conceptual, analytical and research skills
  • Consultancy, coaching, facilitation and collaborative problem solving skills and experience
  • Relevant degree or vocational qualification and experience in a relevant education or teaching program would be highly desirable
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or equivalent is highly desirable or qualify within 12 months
  • Australian Qualifications Framework Level 5 teaching qualification is highly desirable

*Your usual place of work will be Health Safety and Deployment Division; however you may be required to work at any of the divisions within Human Resource Department as required.
