About the role:

You will be delivering, assessing and maintaining contemporary training to Police and Constable Qualifying Program recruits. The training includes (but not limited to) State and Commonwealth Legislation, Victoria Police Policy, Procedure and Practice and Victoria Police IT applications and programs. The training will be delivered through a combination of classroom and practical scenario-based training.

The successful applicants will be expected to have experience/ exposure in a law enforcement environment and possess excellent interpersonal communication skills in order to facilitate training the training while being a key contributor within a dynamic team environment.

 
Your duties will be to:

  • Provide teaching and educational services to Victoria Police, drawing from one's own experience and knowledge;
  • Researching, developing and implementing innovative learning practices and instructional strategies including problem-based action learning together with flexible online delivery methods directed at the needs of the participants;
  • Performing the role connected with the Squad Manager Portfolio. These duties are an important strategy in providing day to day support for our newest members during their training within the Academy; and
  • Performing administration activities pertaining to the course governance, including record keeping in line with Regional Training Officer (RTO) compliance and Victoria Police policy.


As the successful applicant, you will have including but not limited to:

  • Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment is highly desirable, or you will be required to qualify within 12 months of attaining a position (fully funded).
  • Relevant degree or vocational qualification in teaching would be highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills with the capability to both lead teams and also facilitate group led activities.
  • The ability to contextualise and relate practical policing examples to legislation, policy and procedure.

 
Requirements and relevant information:

  • Five fixed term (until 30/06/2021) positions are available (both full-time and part-time application requests will be considered)
  • Positions are available at the Centre for Law Operational Development (CLOD). This Centre of Learning (CoL) is located within the Foundation Training Division of People Development Command.
  • Working at the Victoria Police Academy, View Mount Road, Glen Waverley 3150.
  • Demonstrated experience in policing practices, policies and procedures (inclusive of Victoria Police IT applications) is desirable.
  • The incumbent will be required to complete the OHS requirements of the organisation.
  • The position may require you to work outside the ordinary hours but you will be paid in accordance with the relevant Victorian Public Service Agreement.
