Position Details

  • VPSG-4 range $81,354 -$92,304 p.a. + super + leave loading
  • One (1) full time, fixed term contract until 30 June 2019
  • Working in the BlueConnect Program, Information, Systems and Security Command, located at the Victoria Police Centre, 637 Flinders Street, Docklands, 3008*

About the role

The BlueConnect Program consists of a number of projects which will deliver technology and business change to Victoria Police.  This role will work closely and be under the direction of the BlueConnect Finance Manager and includes the coordination and management of all financial matters for all BlueConnect projects including the creation and management of project budgets, financial reporting, Purchase Orders, Invoice Payments and Carry Forward. This position will be on a fixed-term contract basis until June 2019.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Providing authoritative advice and direction to clients and management on a range of complex corporate financial management services
  • Assist with BlueConnect budget preparation and forecasting
  • Provide input to, and quality assurance on, the financial information and budget preparation for Business Cases
  • Assist in ensuring all required financial reporting is completed within the required timeframes and to an appropriate level of quality
  • Creating and monitoring Purchase Orders
  • Assist in the tracking and allocation of Program level expenses
  • Assist the BlueConnect Project Management team with co-ordination and administration duties as required


As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Excellent financial skills and demonstrated experience in budgeting and financial analysis
  • The ability to use analytical and conceptual skills to reason through problems
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills for liaising with key stakeholders, especially Corporate Finance
  • The ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Possess a flexible “can do” attitude to undertake PMO duties on an ad-hoc basis.


Requirements and relevant information:

  • A relevant tertiary degree or vocational qualification such as commerce, finance, accounting or economics is highly desirable.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo and successfully obtain and maintain a National Security Clearance to the level determined by the Department Head. To obtain this clearance applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The incumbent will be required to complete the OHS requirements of the organisation, which may include local level training relating to equipment usage and Hazardous Chemicals.

*Your usual place of work will be within the BlueConnect Program, Information, Systems and Security Command. However, you may be required to work at any other division within the Information, Systems and Security Command as required.
