Position Details

 

  • VPSG-5 range $92,253 - $111,619 p.a. + super + leave loading
  • One (1) full time, fixed term 12 month position available
  • Working within the Specialist Intelligence Division, Intelligence and Covert Support Command located at 313 Spencer St, Docklands, 3008*



About the role

As the successful applicant, you will provide authoritative strategic advice to Victoria Police decision makers on the results of intelligence gathering and analysis, including the identification of trends and emerging issues. You will model high level leadership attributes in the workplace and across the organisation through the provision of coaching and guidance.  You will contribute to Victoria Police intelligence holdings by remaining conversant with current national and international criminal, technological, legal and operational trends in crime, road safety and public safety, and the intelligence tools being utilised in analysis and reporting.


Some of your duties will include:

  • Conducting analysis on trends, issues and drivers to inform senior decision makers;
  • Preparing  high quality products on a range of issues including crime, road safety and public safety;
  • The development of operational and strategic intelligence across the organisation; and
  • Provide intelligence briefings to Executive Command and other stakeholders as required.



As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • A high level understanding of intelligence analysis and strategic intelligence, with practical applied analyst skills;
  • High level negotiation, presentation and interpersonal communication skills with the proven ability to liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders; and
  • Proven experience in the preparation of comprehensive reports, plans, proposals, intelligence reports and a thorough knowledge of and experience working with intelligence processes and products.



Requirements and relevant information

  • Successful completion of the Victoria Police Intelligence Training Program and the Strategic Analysis Course (through Charles Sturt University) (or qualify within 12 months)
  • Postgraduate qualifications in the related fields of criminology, criminal justice, criminal intelligence or research is highly desirable
  • Within three months of appointment the successful candidate must obtain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance. To obtain this clearance applicants must hold Australian Citizenship
  • The successful applicant will be required to sign an agreement of confidentiality


*Your usual place of work will be within the Specialist Intelligence Services Division, Intelligence and Covert Support Command; however you may be required to work at any other division within the Command as required.
