Position Details

 

  • VPSG-5 range $92,253 - $111,619 p.a. + super + leave loading
  • One (1) full-time, ongoing and one (1) full time, fixed term (until 30/06/2021) positions available
  • Working within the Policy, Projects and Regional Engagement team, Family Violence Command located at the Victoria Police Centre, 637 Flinders Street, Docklands*



About the role

The Family Violence Command is expanding to implement a range of reforms and improvements throughout Victoria Police. The Senior Policy Advisor will provide advisory and strategic support to the Command to support the ongoing development and implementation of strategic policy for the organisation. This will include developing policy positions and co-ordinating strategic projects to improve Victoria Police's responses to family violence, sexual offences and child abuse.


Some of your duties will include:

  • Providing authoritative advice to various stakeholders within the Command regarding legislative and corporate policy interpretations and options
  • Providing advisory support relating to whole of government engagement and collaboration, including representation on cross-departmental initiatives
  • Manage significant and/or sensitive corporate projects, develop business cases, prepare submissions, briefings and position papers
  • Lead the implementation and review of policies, strategies and initiatives including formulating options to ensure benchmarking and best practice



As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Proven experience in policy development, research, formulation and implementation based on organisational knowledge and understanding of current issues
  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects of change and project management including project analysis, research, systems analysis, developing and co-ordinating strategic projects in a complex environment
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting complex research and analysis and the ability to provide authoritative and informed advice to key stakeholders.



Requirements and relevant information:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification would be highly desirable
  • The incumbent will be required to complete the OHS requirements of the organisation, which may include local level training relating to equipment usage and Hazardous Chemicals.

*Your usual place of work will be within the Operations Division, Family Violence Command, however you may be required to work at any other division within the Command as required.
