Position Details

The Foundation Training Division (FTD), People Development Command oversees the foundation training of Police, Protective Services Officers and Police Custody Officers. 

The Business Support Officer role is primarily a support role for the Superintendent - Foundation Training Division, to ensure business requirements are met efficiently and effectively.   The role is advertised as a 0.6 FTE; however there may be scope to expand those hours into the future.  The role works closely with the Senior Sergeant Staff Officer, as part of a small team.     

Your duties will include:

  • Establish strong relationships with all Centre's of Learning;
  • Work closely with and support the Staff Officer (Senior Sergeant);
  • Maintain an awareness of issues impacting the Foundation Program, briefing the Superintendent of matters of importance;
  • Assist with preparing and organising for ceremonial events;
  • Prepare reports, letters and correspondence on a range of matters on behalf of the Superintendent;
  • Secretariat of Committees of which Superintendent is the Chair - including Governance Committee, Security Committee, OH&S, Divisional Leadership Group & FTD Read Outs;
  • Act as a liaison officer for the Superintendent with other members of Victoria Police and other external agencies;
  • Compile of agenda & document folders for Superintendent for meetings where appropriate;
  • Maintain MTIP and VPS Contract list;
  • Creation of FTD Monthly Newsletter;
  • Development of and maintenance of annual budget for FTD;
  • Review Monthly Financial Dashboard and compile response of monthly expenditure on behalf of DLT;
  • Review and assess monthly encumbrance report;
  • Update movement of files on RecFind;
  • And other duties as directed by the Superintendent Foundation Training Division.


As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • A demonstrated ability to work independently in a complex training environment with many stakeholders;
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills including the ability to plan and organise work and produce high quality results;
  • Demonstrated ability to review statistical governance information and identify trends, patterns and issues and provide expert advice and recommendations relating to identified issues; and
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for the stakeholder and the Division.


Requirements and relevant information:

  • Position Location: Victoria Police Academy, Glen Waverley.
  • One (1) part time (0.6FTE), fixed term (until 30/06/2021) position available.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • VPSG4 salary range $85,279 - $96,759 p.a. plus superannuation plus leave loading (pro-rata)
