Position Details

The Victoria Police Academy is situated on sixteen hectares of land on the south west corner of the intersection of  Waverley and Viewmount Roads, Glen Waverley.  The grounds provides for four residential buildings including classrooms as well as a lecture theatre, auditorium, a demonstration theatre and a model courtroom.

About the role:

The Catering and Conference Services team provides catering services to Victoria Police staff, Victoria Police recruits and other guests to the Victoria Police Academy.

As a Food Services Assistant, you will provide and maintain an exceptional level of customer service in the provision of conference and catering. You will assist in the daily operations of the Victoria Police Academy café and the associated food service areas. The Food Services Assistance reports directly to the Team Leader and will be required to perform a range of support services to the Team Leader.

  • This position is full time (1.0 FTE) 38 hrs per week and fixed term until 30/06/2021.
  • VPSG2 salary range $51,717 - $66,414 p.a. + super + leave loading.


Your duties will include:

  • Customer service in the provision of conference and catering;
  • Cash handling – including operating point of sale registers;
  • Operating and maintaining coffee machines;
  • Maintaining stock levels on cafeteria floor;
  • Cleaning & maintaining equipment;
  • General cleaning of all equipment and rooms, including dining room, café, executive dining room and back of house areas;
  • Assisting the head chef with food preparation and general kitchen duties;


As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Experience in making espresso coffee;
  • Experience in front of house customer service;
  • Computer experience;
  • Food handling certificate or relevant experience;


Requirements and relevant information:

  • This position is located at the Victoria Police Academy -  Viewmount Road, Glen Waverly.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • A basic food safety certificate is required.
