  • Working within the Learning Development and Standards Division, People Development Command located at the Victoria Police Academy, Glen Waverley, 3150*



About the role

The Media and Online Leaning Unit is responsible for the design, development and delivery of content via mobile and digital platforms. The unit also implements and supports IT infrastructure, simulators, and other learning technologies in line with the organisations objective to provide equitable training and professional development to all staff throughout the state. This is a busy and collaborative cross-functional unit.

As a Learning Designer at MOLU you will be responsible for the design of eLearning content and online programs forming an integral part of the Recruit and Member Promotional Pathways. You will also actively contribute to the design and development of digital content including eLearning packages, blended learning programs and assessment activities in response to organisational training priorities.


Some of your duties will include:

  • Design training and development content for delivery through a range of technologies including digital and mobile platforms;
  • Translate existing training material into easy to understand scripts and storyboards;
  • Consult with key stakeholders throughout the learning development lifecycle using the Learning and Development (L&D) engagement framework model;
  • Work collaboratively with the team to deliver the units strategic objectives;
  • Identify industry trends and innovative training methodologies;
  • Review training evaluations and conduct client feedback to enable continuous improvement relating to the functionality of existing delivery platforms and the content;
  • Prepare high quality and comprehensive briefs, written reports and correspondence articulating trends, opportunities and risks associated with a planned course of action;
  • Ensure training material complies with relevant quality standards.



As the successful applicant you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience designing L&D programs for digital delivery;
  • The ability to translate key learning outcomes into simple and effective online programs/content;
  • Understanding of all areas of the L&D lifecycle;
  • Working knowledge of digital user experience principles, adult learning principles and outcomes;
  • Practical knowledge of e-Learning technologies and deployment strategies;
  • Excellent writing and editing skills;
  • Strong understanding of technical writing and information mapping;
  • A creative approach and an ability to think outside of the box;
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; initiative to work and learn independently and proactively contribute to department goals.



Requirements and relevant information:

  • Professional experience in an eLearning delivery environment is essential
  • Qualification in relevant discipline is desirable

*Your usual place of work will be within the Learning Development and Standards Division, People Development Command, however you may be required to work at any other division within the Command as required.
