Position Details

  • Working within the Executive Management Support Division, People Development Command located at the Victoria Police Academy, View Mount Road, Glen Waverley, 3150*

About the role

Reporting to the Forensic Mental Health Training Project Manager, you will be responsible for the coordinating the development and delivery of mental health training for Police, Protective Service Officers and Police Custody Officers. This includes working with consultants to deliver training needs analysis, the development of a comprehensive and well targeted package, and leading a team of educators to coordinate the delivery of the training across the organisation. You will also at times, be requested to provide expert advice on a range of education and training programs to the Assistant Commissioner and senior leadership group of People Development Command.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Reporting to the Project Manager, Forensic Mental Health Training Project
  • Managing a small team of educators and working in close consultation with the Operational Safety Division and other key stakeholders within People Development Command, the Human Resource Department and across the police regions
  • Contract management of a consultancy to develop a training needs analysis, training programs and evaluation strategy
  • Developing the training implementation plan in consultation with the Centre for Operational Safety and regional instructors
  • Coordinating and monitoring the roll out of mental health training across Victoria Police
  • Establishing and embedding a training quality assurance and continuous improvement process to ensure an ongoing capability build

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience and high levels of expertise in providing strategic advice and managing programs with an education and training focus
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills and a strong focus on the end user of the training program
  • Demonstrated experience in providing verbal and written advice to senior executives regarding training and education
  • Demonstrated team management and leadership skills and experience
  • A relevant tertiary qualification

Requirements and relevant information:

  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline is essential
  • The position may require travel across the state

*Your usual place of work will be within the Executive Management Support Division, People Development Command. However, you may be required to work at any other division within the People Development Command as required.
