  • Working within the Coordination Division, Capability Department located at the Victoria Police Centre, 637 Flinders Street, Docklands, 3008*

About the role

Capability Department (CD) is led by an Executive Director and an Executive Leadership Team.  CD comprises of a number of divisions which deliver significant organisation responsibilities across a number of portfolios including leading the Victoria Police Capability Plan, the collection and dissemination of crime reporting data, engaging with priority communities across Victoria and conducting reviews and delivering continuous improvement outcomes. This role exists in the Coordination Division of CD.  The Senior Business Advisor must be able to manage the department's budget, including forecasting and trust fund management together with vacancies/ establishment management, contractor engagement and be the main point of contact for all finance and HR queries/issues. The role involves maintaining key relationships with the Victoria Police Finance and Human Resource Departments.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders including Finance and Human Resource Departments
  • Providing high level advice and direction in the provision of business services, including participating in strategic business planning and decision making processes to shape and drive the business
  • Management of CD's establishment (VPS and sworn) including staff movement, and changes to CD's profile and budget build
  • Monitor and coordinate the budget of the Department including forecasting
  • Provide high-level advice and direction in the provision of business services, including participating in strategic business planning and decision making processes to shape and drive the business
  • Identify emerging risk and provide reports and solution options to the Senior Leadership Team, Executive Leadership Team and Executive Director

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, but also as part of a small team
  • Ability to provide clear and succinct verbal and written briefings, at an executive level
  • Proven ability to manage budget and human resources within policy frameworks and financial constraints
  • Demonstrated ability to identify emerging risks and effectively manage human resource and finance issues

Requirements and relevant information:

  • The successful candidate may be required to undergo and successfully obtain and maintain a National Security Clearance to the level determined by the Department Head. To obtain this clearance applicants must be an Australian Citizen
  • The incumbent will be required to complete the OHS requirements of the organisation, which may include local level training relating to equipment usage and Hazardous Chemicals
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or post-graduate business qualifications would be an advantage

 
*Your usual place of work will be within the Coordination Division, Capability Department, however you may be required to work at any other division within the Capability Department as required.
