  • Working within the Marketing and Engagement Division, Media and Corporate Communications Department located at the Victoria Police Centre, 637 Flinders Street, Docklands*

About the role:

As manager of the proactive online communications team (8 staff), you will provide leadership, supervision and support to a team responsible for the management of the Eyewatch program, creation of digital campaigns, graphic design and web coordination.

Victoria Police runs an Eyewatch program in every Police Service Area, a total of 54 Facebook sites which are locally managed. These Eyewatch pages are an online channel allowing Victoria Police to actively engage with local communities to reduce and prevent crime, fear of crime and to promote community safety through increased confidence and access to police.

You will join the Marketing and Engagement Division which manages external communications for Victoria Police.

We are looking for a strategic thinker who will be the ‘go to' person on how to inform and engage with the community through digital platforms. You will have excellent project management, people management and stakeholder management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Creating and driving communication strategies to inform and engage with the community;
  • Leading the day-to-day development, implementation and evaluation of digital communications activities ensuring that best-practice approaches are used;
  • Performance management and professional development of team including online communications, videography, graphic design and web coordinator;
  • Providing proactive, responsive, strategic and tactical marketing and communications advice, identifying and managing issues, risks and opportunities;
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on activities and outcomes to ensure service delivery targets and key milestones are achieved.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • A demonstrated record of achievement at a senior level in managing the development, implementation and delivery of online communication programs with a large, complex environment within tight timeframes;
  • Experience in project management and use of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat;
  • Proven experience as a communications professional consulting with senior managers and staff at all levels of an organisation to provide pragmatic solutions to business objectives and projects;
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to gain cooperation and achieve realistic outcomes;
  • Proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction and constructively manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for the stakeholder and the organisation;
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluating projects as part of continual improvement;

Requirements and relevant information:

  • A relevant tertiary degree or vocational qualification in the field is highly desirable.
  • Please note that some travel may be required, therefore a current drivers licence is required.
  • The position may require travel intrastate and interstate.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head.  To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.

*Your usual place of work will be within the Corporate Communications Division, Media and Corporate Communications Department; however you may be required to work at any other division within the Division/Command as required.
