Position Details

The role is working within the Road Policing Drug and Alcohol Section (RPDAS) of Victoria Police, to provide management support to the impaired driving enforcement program. 

The Rpdas provides state-wide impaired driver support to Victoria Police to achieve the objectives of the state's road safety strategy. The Roadside Drug Testing (RDT) Expansion Project is responsible for increasing the current RDT program and uplifting the overall number of test conducted each year to 150,000.

  • Two (2) full time, fixed term (until 30/06/2020) positions available.

These positions will join our expanding team and provide administrative management support to the Roadside Drug Test (RDT) expansion project team. These roles are critical to ensuring effective day to day RDT sample management and case management support to enable operational support and achieve the RDT Expansion program of works. These positions will report directly to the Senior Sergeant Support Services at RPDAS, and subsequently to the Inspector in Charge of Support Services at the RPDAS.

An induction program and full training of the role and position requirements will assist the successful applicants to confidently carry out their position duties.

Your duties will include:

  • Using appropriate administrative IT applications and data bases  to undertake forensic sample  processing and case management duties.
  • Managing chain of custody records and other relevant evidence relating to the movement of and recording of RDT and other  impaired driving  forensic  samples.
  • Managing administrative support staff in the day to day activities of RDT administrative support duties.
  • Managing the deployments of regular  forensic sample couriering duties  being undertaken by administrative support staff.
  • Attending court on behalf of Victoria Police when required to give continuity evidence in relation to the processing and case management  of Random Drug Testing  and other impaired driving  forensic samples.
  • Supporting impaired driving program by engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Providing administrative management support to ensure accurate record keeping.
  • Undertaking administrative management tasks and functions  to provide reports for management teams.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Demonstrated administration management  and reporting experience and capability, including the ability to achieve objectives within tight timeframes, and actively engage stakeholders.
  • Experience in using IT applications and data-bases such as the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, negotiate the resolution of  administrative issues, and contribute and cooperate to achieve positive workplace outcomes.
  • Ability to work by direction as well as autonomously on your own initiative and be self-motivated and driven
  • A current Victorian Drivers licence is desirable
  • Ability to effectively and flexibly operate in a dynamic and diverse working environment.
  • Willingness to undertake a Certificate Course to understand and qualify in forensic sample case management.
  • Willingness to  be part of a dynamic hard working team to support the impaired driving program in Victoria.

  • The position is located at the Police Complex at 20 Dawson Street Brunswick, Melbourne Victoria.
  • Relevant work and/or academic history will assist to demonstrate aptitude.
